Civil Engineering
Department Overview
Civil engineers have one of the world’s most important jobs: they build our quality of life. With creativity and technical skill, civil engineers plan, design, construct and operate the facilities essential to modern life, ranging from bridges and highway systems to water treatment plants and energy¬ efficient buildings. Civil engineers are problem solvers, meeting the challenges of pollution, traffic congestion, drinking water and energy needs, urban redevelopment and community planning.
Most people can not imagine life without the many contributions of civil engineers to the public’s health, safety and standard of living. Only by exploring civil engineering’s influence in shaping the world we know today, can we creatively envision the progress of our tomorrows.
Civil Engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields. Civil engineering focuses on the infrastructure of the world which include Water works, Sewers, Dams, Power Plants, Transmission Towers/Lines, Railroads, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Irrigation Canals, River Navigation, Shipping Canals, Traffic Control, Mass Transit, Airport Runways, Terminals, Industrial Plant Buildings, Skyscrapers, etc. Among the important subdivisions of the field are construction engineering, irrigation engineering, transportation engineering, soils and foundation engineering, geodetic engineering, hydraulic engineering, and coastal and ocean engineering.
Courses Available
B.Tech. Civil Engineering (30 Seats)
Civil Engineering focuses on enhancing the societal civil life by creating poise in the usage of natural resources. Construction engineering, transportation engineering, Geotechnical engineering, Surveying and mapping, Hydraulics and Water resources, Municipal and Sanitary services are the key sectors intricately involved in Civil Engineering. DPGITM being the outstanding name for technical courses is known as Best College for civil engineering in Haryana.
Apart from the fundamental engineering sciences, the civil engineering curriculum covers diverse areas such as construction, structures, works management, foundation, transportation, finances, irrigation, environmental engineering, hydraulics, earthquake technology etc. The civil engineering deals with designing and supervision of construction of buildings, bridges, condominiums, dams and reservoirs, tunnels etc. Railways, roads, airport, harbors and docks also are covered under the science. Construction of roads, irrigation and power, sewage disposal and water supply, transportation and traffic, reservoirs and dams, navigation and airways, industrial waste management, air pollution abetment, disaster management etc. are covered under civil engineering as well.
Best Civil Engineering College in Haryana, Delhi NCR
Computer based analysis, designing and drawing, lab experimentation are practiced along with tutorial classes to develop confidence in students. The institute is deployed with well-equipped labs as per the university curriculum and norms. The affordable price structure of the course in such an infrastructure makes it the best civil engineering colleges in Delhi.
The Civil Engineering aims to improve the civil life of society by harmonizing the natural resources available on the earth. The major areas in the field of Civil Engineering are Construction Technology, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Municipal and Sanitary services, Surveying and mapping, Hydraulics and Water resources. A Construction Engineering deals with the design and supervision of construction of bridges, buildings, tunnels and dams. Role of specialized geotechnical engineers is vital and relevant for any structure to stand stable. Transportation Engineering deals with the planning, design and construction of roads, railways, airport, dock and harbours. Broadly, a Civil Engineer is expected to do planning, research, design and construction of buildings, roads, traffic and transportation, irrigation and power, water supply and sewage disposal, dam and reservoirs, ports and harbours, airways and navigation, treatment of industrial wastes and abatement of air pollution, noise pollution and disaster mitigation.
Besides the basic and Engineering sciences, the curriculum in Civil Engineering covers various professional subjects e.g. structures, foundation, construction, works management and cost, transportation engineering, irrigation engineering, hydraulics, environmental engineering and earthquake technology etc.
Laboratory experiments, Computer Aided analysis, Design and Drawing and the tutorial classes are held to build confidence in the students. The Department provides well equipped laboratories as per MDU curriculum.
